I think I have to get skype. The world is too accessible, and I have too many people I want to call abroad.
I just talked to my girlfriend from Paris. She's in India now, two weeks from returning to Europe. I haven't talked to Leslie in real time since January 2004. She was surprised to hear my voice and how it sounds over the phone. I forgot how French she sounds. She's funny, in her cynical way. It made me feel really good, in a connected way, to talk to her.
It's really nice that I've been able to maintain friendships with the three women I travelled with in India two years ago. We've really been a support for each other over the past couple of years. It's funny that we're on two continents, in 4 countries(San Francisco, Vancouver, Paris, London) but have still managed to stay relevant in eachother's lives.
Leslie sent me a text saying that the guy she was with in Cambodia is being selfish and hurting her feelings. I think he's a dink, but what do I know? I wish she wouldn't choose men who treat her badly.
Talking to her really makes me think I have to find a way to stay in contact with another friend of mine more.... must see how Irene is doing, off in Holland.
